Alex Harea - Director of Tennis Programs

Alex has been teaching tennis in Ottawa for 10 years. At age 15 he started as a tennis camp instructor and quickly fell in love with coaching. Now Tennis Canada Club Pro 1 certified and has a ton of teaching experience under his belt, from high-performance juniors to beginner adults and everything in between.  Alex has worked with the OTA to bring tennis into schools and inner city neighborhoods in an effort to introduce more kids to the beautiful game from a young age.  He has also done work with Tennis Canada running junior leagues across Ottawa.   Alex will be on court all spring and summer teaching both group and private lessons. Francisco Alvarez -  Club Manager and Tennis Professional

Francisco has been teaching tennis in Ottawa and specifically at the St James tennis club for well over 15 years. Over that time, he has held various roles from head professional to club manager and, along with the club’s dedicated staff, has been involved in the advancement and progression of the club’s tennis programs and clubhouse.  Francisco’s coaching style has best been classified as easy going and patient. Whether you are looking to increase your consistency on your groundstrokes or improve some doubles tactics, Francisco will be with you every step of the way.  Who knows, he might even get you in an exciting game of Cisco’s Disco!  Francisco looks forward to seeing everyone out on the courts during this exciting tennis season. Tom MacDonald-Depew

Tom is a teacher at Sir Robert Borden High School, and has been running the St. James Summer Camps program for the past 5 years. He is a past director of the camp programs at Carleton University, and has a broad background in sports, including having played both varsity Hockey and Soccer for the Ravens. In the summer, Tom plays premier level soccer for the Gloucester Celtic Soccer Club, which won the Ontario Cup in 2013 and 2016, placing 1st and 3rd respectively at Nationals. Having grown up in the Glebe, Tom has fond memories of St. James and loves working with parents and kids in the community. You can contact Tom for any camp related information at
